Figure studio final painting part 2

Lightening the background and dropping down the contrast between the legs and the walls. The focal point is going to be her neck, and I've been painting around it because I'm not exactly sure how I want to handle it. Right now I'm happy with getting the values and the drawing down right. Two more weeks!

Jeffry Watts

New artist that I'm in love with. I found his work in Southwest Art

http://www.jeffreyrwatts.com/.

What I love is the emphasis he puts on texture and brush strokes, defining his focal point with meticulous detail and then letting the rest slip away. Just beautiful!

Figure Studio final painting

Really excited about my final project for Zhaoming's figure painting class. I really wanted to post the photos I got from the model shoot, but I'm sure she doesn't want that on the internet. I'm trying to make it a high key painting to push that light, calm feeling, but I have to fight my natural inclination to push the contrast---everywhere. Here goes.

Oil on 18 x 24" canvas.

Just small tweaking on Oscar. I wanted to give him a better smile.

Going traditional

I've decided to do my characters traditionally. Hopefully this will turn out! I laid everything out with acrylic and now I'm going over it with oil. Using good ol' John Wayne for color reference. Reba McEntire Pandora assisting.

Eyeball deep in thesis now. Here are two characters that I've almost finished designing.
